Luxury Villas to rent in Umbria

Apartments in Umbria

Known as 'the green heart of Italy', Umbria is the only Italian region that borders neither the sea nor another country. The scenery is much the same as neighbouring Tuscany, with undulating hills, olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees. Its picturesque ancient walled hill towns, including Spoleto, Todi, Gubbio, Assisi and Orvieto, offer much of cultural and historic interest to visitors - Spoleto is renowned for its summer festival and Assisi’s Basilica di San Francesco has frescoes by Giotto, while the Roman theatre just below Gubbio dates back to the first century AD and holds concerts during the summer. In fact, Umbrian art, culture, food and wine are equal to any other Italian region. Umbria is renowned for its truffles, hams and cheeses, as well as its white wine, Orvieto Classico, and red Sangrantino di Montefalco wine.

One of our luxury villas to rent in Umbria is near the very pretty hill town of Todi. Surrounded by medieval, Roman and Etruscan walls, and with a beautiful historic centre, it also provides a great base for visiting the towns of southern Umbria. including Spoleto (44 kms), Orvieto (38 kms), or Perugia (46 kms). In late summer, the Todi Art Festival features art, theatre, opera, and music performances and there are also evening events scheduled throughout the summer. Also of note, in July there is the Gran Premio Internazionale Mongolfieristico, an international ballooning competition. The villa is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, filled with roses, lavender and mediterranean herbs, and the perfect relaxing retreat for those looking for a luxurious base from which to explore Umbria.  Our other luxury accommodation rental is a large and character-filled converted monastery in the north of Umbria, around 30 minites drive from both Cortona and Gubbio.
