The villa residence is in the heart of the Alentejo close to Evora and only 1 hour from Lisbon. Moinho d’Agua is a small working farm of 12 hectares. Montemor-o-Novo (5 minutes away) is the nearest town and has a well preserved old quarter with unique chapels, a castle, banks, small shops, a food market and tennis courts. Also within a short driving distance is the World Heritage Site of Évora, and some of Portugal’s best west coast beaches, with fine golden sand, clear blue waters and fantastic fish restaurants. Other activities on offer at Moinho do Alamo include horse riding (the countryside around the property is ideal), bicycle riding and river boating.
This very spacious country house totalling 1,200 sq metres, is re-constructed from the ruins of a 19th century water-mill, has many original features, including an all- stone living room built on top of the river channel. A large patio with river views is ideal for dining “al fresco”, and there are other outdoor dining or sitting areas. The property has been decorated in a classical Portuguese style, with many antiques and paintings and is very well equipped, including cable TV (plasma screen in sitting room and bedrooms), DVD, sound system, air conditioning in the master bedroom, and fans in most other bedrooms, and central heating on the ground and first floors. Central heating and pool heating are charged extra.
Within the large garden is a swimming pool (14 x 7m) with jet stream and pool gates for child safety. There is a spacious pool house with cooking facilities and a built-in barbecue. The pool can be heated on request at extra charge. For children, there is a “wendy” house in the garden, a small horse carriage, and many toys. The grounds of Moinho do Alamo are particularly charming when floodlit in the evenings with the romantic island folly (in the middle of the river), providing an extra chill out area with hammocks, outside bar with draft beer (on request) and another barbecue. This residence property close to Evora is perfect for small or large celebrations, themed parties or corporate weekends and the services provided, are of 5 star quality! The changeover day at this property is flexible, and minmimum stay is one week. There are prices for groups of 10 or 16 people (for 10 persons, only the 5 bedrooms on the first floor will be available).

Ground Floor (the bedrooms on this floor are only available for rentals of over 10 guests)
Living room with fireplace and dining room, with large original fireplace and seating up to 24 people, opening onto to river view patio with covered and uncovered lounging/dining areas. Guest WC, large, traditional and very well-equipped kitchen with larder. Rear terrace with built-in spit barbeque. The bedrooms are at a slightly higher level: 2 twin bedrooms (beds of 0.95m x 1.90m), each with private bathroom. Next to these rooms is a small sitting room.
Small sitting room with fireplace and corridor access to: en-suite family room with a double plus 2 twins beds (double bed of 1.87m x 1.45m / twin beds of 1.85m x 0,85m); en-suite twin bedroom (beds of 0.90m x 2m); 2 en-suite double bedrooms (beds of 2x2m and 1.80m x 1.36m respectively) - all opening onto a shared covered terrace with hammocks and to the garden. The master bedroom suite has a king-size bed (2.10m x 1.80m), small sitting area, fireplace and air-conditioning, a traditional tiled bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and shower, plus a large private balcony with hammocks and magnificent views of the river.

English Speaking Manager to meet clients on arrival at the property.
Resident couple x 6 days a week (cleaning and maintaining the house, grounds and swimming pool).
Welcome Portuguese tapas with wine as well as a basic welcome food hamper is included in the rental.
Cooking Service – shopping, preparing and clearing up for 2 meals a day is included in the rental. This service consists of continental breakfast + 3 course local gastronomy dinner with ½ bottle of wine per adult or soft drinks for children. Any extra bottles of Alentejo regional wines (red/rose/white) are charged locally at €17 each.
Other Complimentary Drinks – a barrel of draft beer (30 litres) as well as another of drinking water are provided on arrival at the property and are included in the rental. Any extras are charged locally at €150 and €25 respectively.
Basic Items – for the duration of the rental such as charcoal for barbecue use, guest soaps & lavatory paper, plus essential cleaning products such as washing up liquid, dishwasher & washing machine detergents, spare electrical bulbs, candles & matches are included in the rental.
Personal Laundry – is included in the rental.
